More than 30 parents and seniors in attendance
1. Information was shared from the Nov. 30 meeting at SU concerning prom details and costs.
2. Proposed class budget was presented. Mrs. Titus volunteered to put all information in a spreadsheet. Preliminary information suggests that the class may have $1,500 extra after prom expenses. This is just an estimate.
3. Class gift was discussed again. It was agreed that the class would spend $750 (of their extra funds) on the class gift. Katelyn DeFiore will continue to work with ATEX on plans for an engraved bench to be placed in the renovated Memorial Garden. The group also would like to plant trees in the garden.
4. MUCH discussion concerning Grand March. Mrs. Birch reminded the group that it did not matter which date was chosen for prom (May 21 or May 28), SU did not have available facilities for the Grand March. The Grand March can not take place in the Commons (site of the prom) due to fire code. Holloway Hall was not available. The gym is not air conditioned. No other building on campus can accommodate our school. Asbury United Methodist Church (across from SU) is also not available for those dates. The group decided, after hearing opinions from many in attendance, that Grand March should take place. We first looked at the auditorium, which should be finished with renovations. It was agreed that the facility was not large enough, as there would be no place to house the seniors and dates prior to the actual Grand March. It was recommended that we consider holding Grand March at JMB, in the gym, with the cafeteria as the "holding room". Mrs. Carpenter agreed to look into the cost of floor covering for the gym. Mrs. Birch, Mrs. Carpenter and Leah Carpenter will meet with Mr. Grudis to discuss details and to seek permission/approval. It was agreed by those in attendance that all visitors to Grand March would be required to remain in the gym until Grand March is over; this is the same procedure that was used at the Civic Center for years. It eliminates the constant noise of people moving in and out, and it is more respectful of all of those participating in Grand March. If JMB is not a feasible option, the class will then visit St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church to discuss the use of their fellowship building (cost is approximately $400). The decision on location will take place prior to the next class meeting on Monday, Jan. 31.
5. Discussion was held on the selection of the DJ for the prom. Having several options, we heard from the seniors in attendance their views on a DJ. We then voted to use Storm Nicholson (JMB graduate) as the DJ for the prom. The fee for his services is considerably less than others, and the seniors in attendance all agreed that he is a good DJ, having heard him at numerous other events and dances. Riley Dunworth is the contact person, and she agreed to work with Mr. Nicholson to obtain a contract for his services, and to present a list of songs that the class would like to use the evening of the prom so that an edited version will be available for use, if necessary. It was agreed that the song selection list would be made available to Mr. Grudis and the main prom committee members at least 3 weeks in advance of the dance.
6. Discussion then moved to the senior class trip proposed for Saturday, May 14 (details below these notes). It was agreed that the cost of going to New York to see a Broadway show is simply too expensive. Other options include going to Busch Gardens, Six Flags or Jolly Rogers. Several in attendance agreed to contact these places and bus companies to find the actual cost. These costs will be presented at the next meeting, with a vote on the trip being taken.
7. Mrs. Titus reported on the extremely successful shopping expedition on Black Friday for the gifts to be raffled at prom. The actual list is boggling and includes a laptop, a mini laptop, ipod touch, mp3 players, Wii, and television. Those in attendance voted to reimburse Mrs. Titus for the cost of the sales tax.
8. Leah Carpenter reported that the seniors that had responded to the facebook and e-mail poll for various senior details had been overwhelmingly negative about holding an After Prom Party. Leah will present the actual vote about all of the details (class colors, song, etc.) at the next meeting.
9. The next meeting is Monday, Jan. 31. On the agenda:
~the final decision concerning Grand March
~the final decision about an After Prom Party
~details about the class song, colors, etc.

Both Sister Act and Wonderland are plays that will premiere in March. The pricing on them is for Early Bird ticket purchases.
Sister Act is produced by Whoopi Goldberg and is based on the movies of the same name.
Wonderland has been created by the director/producer of Jekyll and Hyde, using the same format as Wicked. It is the story of Alice in Wonderland, but Alice is now grown up and married.
